TIDES OF FLESH | Author: Farseer Tyross | Type: Story |
| Looming at the fore of his horde, Daemon Prince Arnell darted forward upon powerful daemonic legs, his glaive burning bright red as it sensed the nearby foes. Behind him stood a handful of Berserkers, and a regiment of Imperial Guardsmen, before him lay the vast countless Tyranid swarm. | Danitun Prime itself lie in the grasp of Lord Arnell, not more then 150 light years away from the Eye of Terror, and although the world was capable of producing a limited number of space vessels, it's main concern was that of producing Imperial Guard regiments for their new master. When the Tyranids first entered the system, they could not be repulsed by the limited number of vessels that served as Imperial transports. Shortly after they had begun to make planetfall in their spores, a lone frigate was sent into the Eye of Terror to call for their new master. ithin days, Arnell had heeded the call of one of his most valuable staging posts. Over a hundred Khorne Berserkers made planetfall within their armoured Thunderhawk gunships as the first waves of the Danitun Guard held their borders. | Their master leapt foward once again with uncontrollable blood rage, the Berserkers begun their advance. Hundreds of laser bolts flashed between the Guard and the leading edge of the Tyranid swarm, felling those unfortunate enough to be struck before they could bring their talons to bear. | The response from the Tyranids was horrible to behold as they raced closer. Those within range spewed thousands of flesh eating maggots from their fleshborers. The Guardsmen of squad Lyrauin broke and ran as the first of their men begun to fall, only to be taken down by the Berserkers behind. Death, it seemed, was infront and behind the Guardsmen. | The Berserkers pushed their way past the Guardsmen to close with the swarm. The orders of the Guard Officers were defeated by the roar of the Berserkers as they entered the fray. The Tyranids, by that point had already engulved the Khorne Lord. Seconds later, one of the Berserkers fell to a mighty blast of powerful psychic energy, propelled forth by the will of a nearby Zoanthrope. As the Berserkers finally clashed into the wave of talons and fangs, each of the Berserker's strikes bit deep into Tyranid flesh, whilst Arnell slew yet more of the Tyranid creatures that were running around him trying to hit an unknown weak spot. | Five tall creatures of bone and muscle approached the Lord in a daring fashion. Bringing one down with a single blow from his massive fist, the surviving Warriors encircled the Khorne Lord. Gripping one by it's throat, whilst his glaive decapitated the other with a clean strike, Arnell's daemonic core burned deep as two of the Wariors talons bit deep into his flesh. Rage coursed through his body, and with inhuman speed, dropped those around him with frightening speed. | Turning with inhuman ease, Arnell's attention had been caught by the crackling energy of a nearby Zoanthrope. A smile cracked across his face as the energy built up within the head of the alien. Stepping forward to close the gap between the Zoanthrope and Arnell, Arnell could almost smell the creatures blood. As the corona of Warp energy serged forward toward the beast of a Lord. As the bolt of energy screamed closer, Arnell felt the protective daemonic wards of Khorne burst into life around his neck. The collar, an ancient Khornate artefact, had nullified the creatures psychic onslaught. | The glaive tore through the air, stricking the creature between it's large, bulbous head and it's smaller body. He watched as it whithered and died before him, taking pleasure from it's death. Hours later, thousands of bodies littered the fields of Danitun Prime... |
